Date of first appearance of coronal hole in EUV at east limb:
Note: Characterized by an increase in solar wind speed from ~400 km/s at 2026-01-09T05:05Z to ~560 km/s at 2026-01-09T08:57Z. A subsequent increase in temperature is observed from ~100,000 K at 2026-01-09T05:05Z to ~400,000 K at 2026-01-09T09:13Z. The increases in speed and temperature are preceded by an increase in density from 4 p/cc at 2026-01-09T02:30Z to ~12 p/cc at 04:17Z before decreasing back to ~5 p/cc at the start of the arrival signature. Additionally, a gradual amplification of magnetic field components is observed with Btotal increasing from ~4nT at 2026-01-09T04:45Z to ~16nT at 2026-01-09T16:00Z. This signature is associated with the arrival of a coronal hole high speed stream originating from a wide coronal hole spanning 90 degrees longitude and S10 to N50 degrees latitude.
